Matilda is a musical composed by Tim Minchin based on the eponymous novel by Roald Dahl.
The show tells the story of a young girl who is particularly precocious for her age. At school, Matilda is valued by her classmates and by her young and shy teacher Miss Honey who tries to do all she can to help this little girl reach her potential. But the terrible headteacher Miss Trunchbull, who likes to torture those around her, doesn't see it that way. Matilda, helped by her classmates, will devise a scheme to scare away Miss Trunchbull while Miss Honey will learn to overcome her shyness and adopt Matilda.
Book nowMatilda has been one of the biggest successes of recent years: the show has been performed in London continuously since 2011. It was even exported to Broadway from April 2013 to January 2017.
The musical won seven Olivier Awards in 2012, including Best Musical and best sets.
On stage, children play leading roles, and you might as well be warned that they are amazing! The role of Matilda is so demanding that it is played by four little girls who take turns. Even if the story seems childish, the themes addressed (the difficulties of childhood and the power of the imagination) are universal. As for the staging and the sets, let's not give anything away, but they greatly contribute to the success of the musical.
Matilda is an excellent family show, which will appeal to kids and grown-ups!

Exceptional performances, musicians. Stage management. So well cast and each and every performer gave their all. It felt so fresh and energetic, very hard to believe it wasn't an opening night. I brought my daughter over from Ireland especially to see the show and we had the best evening. One of the best shows I've ever seen. And I've seen them all!!!! Bravo!!!!!

Amazing from start to finish!
Very well put together and a brilliant spin on an already awesome story.
Theatre was clean and well presented.
We sat in the upper circle and still had a very good view of the whole stage area.
All the performers matched their characters personalities and had a true likeness in costume.

Excellent show. Good pace throughout. The set was great, clever and interesting. The acting was fantastic, the children were great. Singing and dancing were fabulous, especially Miss. Honey’s singing. Definitely recommend. Was even better than the new film. My 8 year old enjoyed every minute and would definitely go again.

Extraordinary! I loved the film, and I loved the musical. A show with a lot of freshness and creativity, performed by a team of talented actors and especially moving and impressive child actors. I highly recommend going to see Matilda for a wonderful time as a couple or family!

This show is definitely one of my favourites. I have always loved the story of Matilda (I first encountered the film inspired by the book); this child fascinates me. So to see her in a musical was a dream come true! Especially with an adaptation of this quality: stylistically (the sets are sublime!), musically (the main character's songs all ended up on my playlist) and theatrically (the story is cleverly adapted while working within the constraints of live performance). And these children are incredibly talented and powerful, it's amazing! The result is better than my wildest dreams!

Terrific show. Incredible and very original staging. The different sets are remarkable. Great professionalism from all the actors, especially the children. Not a single misstep or mistake. We came as a family: parents and young adults aged 25 and 19. We all loved it.

A rhythmic, sparkling musical full of laughter and colour! We came out of it with stars in our eyes... Superb sets and child and adult actors with crazy energy! This is the first musical I have seen, and it won't be the last! I'd watch it again and again! (And it’s for everyone!)

What an amazing performance, the talent that the young actors have is truly outstanding. During the interval, two main actors interacted with the audience which was hilarious and something I hadn’t before experienced. Highly recommend watching this musical, it’s even better than the movie! An overall great experience.

We highly recommend this magnificent and very funny show! The sets are very well thought out, the actors are very good, and the songs are moving and catchy. Roald Dahl's stories are always very rich and full of imagination, so they lend themselves very well to musicals. Young and old will be delighted!

Every venue has been renovated recently with evey seat giving you a good view of the stage. However, the further you are from the stage, the further you are from the magic. Ticket prices are set by venues and productions. Even though the majority of musicals are suitable for children, there is no preferential child ticket.

An advertised actor can be replaced by another actor without any prior warning. Unfortunately, this is not a valid reason for requesting a refund.
Taking photos and videos is generally prohibited in venues.
