What's Matilda about?

Matilda is a musical composed by Tim Minchin based on the eponymous novel by Roald Dahl.

The show tells the story of a young girl who is particularly precocious for her age. At school, Matilda is valued by her classmates and by her young and shy teacher Miss Honey who tries to do all she can to help this little girl reach her potential. But the terrible headteacher Miss Trunchbull, who likes to torture those around her, doesn't see it that way. Matilda, helped by her classmates, will devise a scheme to scare away Miss Trunchbull while Miss Honey will learn to overcome her shyness and adopt Matilda.

Why should you see Matilda?

Matilda has been one of the biggest successes of recent years: the show has been performed in London continuously since 2011. It was even exported to Broadway from April 2013 to January 2017.

The musical won seven Olivier Awards in 2012, including Best Musical and best sets.

On stage, children play leading roles, and you might as well be warned that they are amazing! The role of Matilda is so demanding that it is played by four little girls who take turns. Even if the story seems childish, the themes addressed (the difficulties of childhood and the power of the imagination) are universal. As for the staging and the sets, let's not give anything away, but they greatly contribute to the success of the musical.

Matilda is an excellent family show, which will appeal to kids and grown-ups!

Exceptional performances, musicians. Stage management. So well cast and each and every performer gave their all. It felt so fresh and energetic, very hard to believe it wasn't an opening night. I brought my daughter over from Ireland especially to see the show and we had the best evening. One of the best shows I've ever seen. And I've seen them all!!!! Bravo!!!!!

Amazing from start to finish!
Very well put together and a brilliant spin on an already awesome story.
Theatre was clean and well presented.
We sat in the upper circle and still had a very good view of the whole stage area.
All the performers matched their characters personalities and had a true likeness in costume.
