What's MJ The Musical about?

After having triumphed on Broadway, MJ The Musical is finally coming to London!

MJ is a homage to Michael Jackson, centred on his Dangerous World Tour. The musical takes the biggest hits from the king of pop and Jackson 5 such as ABC, Black or White, Blame it on the Boogie, Bad, Billie Jean, Off the Wall, Thriller and I’ll Be There.

The creators of the show wanted to take the audience behind the scenes of the 1992 tour. While Michael Jackson and his cast rehearse their setlist, flashbacks allow us to relive key moments in the artist's career.

Why should you see MJ The Musical?

MJ The Musical was created in 2019 in Chicago and was on stage between 2021 and 2023 in New York. Following its success, the producers decided to launch an American tour in August 2023 before coming to London.

The MJ libretto is by American playwright Lynn Nottage (two times Pulitzer Prize winner) and the choreography and direction are by Christopher Wheeldon. The show won 4 Tony Awards in 2022 including Best Choreography.

From his beginnings in Jackson 5 to his uncontested reign as king of pop, Michael Jackson is known for his boundless creativity. His music has inspired several generations of musicians and he's considered one of the best-known and most celebrated performers in the world. He's one of the best-selling artists in music history. Thriller is still the world's best-selling album, with nearly 65 million copies sold.
