What's Oliver! about?

Oliver! is the musical adaptation of the famous novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. The show tells the story of the life and adventures of a young orphan in London's underbelly.

Left at a workhouse after his mother's death, Oliver rebels and is placed in the care of an undertaker. Exploited, the young boy flees to London. There he meets Fagin, the leader of a group of pickpockets. One thing leads to another and Oliver will find himself embarking on increasingly dangerous adventures.

Why should you see Oliver!?

The musical Oliver! was created in 1960 in London. The book, lyrics and music are by Lionel Bart, the father of British musicals according to Andrew Lloyd Webber.

The success of Oliver! was immediate. The show then went to New York (1962) and was adapted into a film (1968). Since then, Oliver! has had five revivals in London, a new production almost every ten years.

This new musical production is more intimate and dark to better represent the sordid living conditions and cruelty orphans were subjected to in Victorian times.

Oliver! is a classic British musical - don't miss it!
