The show was created at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, in 2019. It had a revival at the same theatre in 2022 before moving to the National Theatre, London, where it received two Olivier Awards.
Standing at the Sky’s Edge music was composed by the singer Richar Hawley. Some songs came from his eponymous album while others were written specially for the show. The book is by Chris Bush.
